At the end of January 2022, bank deposits of the non-government sector were 101.852 billion leva (69.4 per cent of GDP), marking an annual increase of 8.3 per cent, the Bulgarian National Bank reported on Wednesday.
Deposits of non-financial corporations were 31.523 billion leva (21.5 per cent of GDP), a 7.8 per cent increase compared to the same month last year.
Deposits of financial corporations grew by 11.1 per cent year-on-year in January 2022, reaching 3.583 billion leva (2.4 per cent of GDP) at the end of the month.
Deposits of households and non-profit institutions serving households (NPISHs) were 66.747 billion leva (45.5 per cent of GDP) at the end of January 2022. They increased by 8.3 per cent compared to the same month of 2021 at an annual growth of 9 per cent in December 2021.
At the end of January 2022, claims on loans to the non-government sector amounted to 71.362 billion leva, an annual increase of 8.5 per cent.
In January, loans to non-financial corporations increased by 4,8 per cent year-on-year, reaching 37.597 billion leva (25.6 per cent of GDP) at the end of the month.
Loans to households and NPISHs were 29.049 billion leva (19.8 per cent of GDP) at the end of January 2022, marking a 13.6 per cent increase compared to the same month last year. At the end of January 2022 loans for house purchases were 14.236 billion leva, a 17.9 per cent annual increase. Consumer loans amounted to 13.286 billion leva, up by 11.2 per cent compared to January 2021.
Loans to sole proprietorships and partnerships without legal status increased annually by 4.2 per cent, reaching 380.3 million leva.
Loans granted to financial corporations were 4.716 billion leva (3.2 per cent of GDP) at the end of January, or 9.6 per cent more compared to January 2021.
