The State Fund Agriculture has paid 2,519,437 leva under the de minimis scheme to compensate production costs for tobacco growing. The money has been allocated to 1,956 tobacco growers, the Fund said.  The financial support aims to help farmers after the draught which caused severe damage to tobacco and the high price of natural gas which drove up the prices of fertilizers and pesticides.

Tobacco growers filed applications from December 20 2021 and January 31 2022. The Fund recalls that its Managing Board approved a budget of 3 million leva under the scheme. Eligible are active tobacco growers who had sold tobacco in 202o and were entered in a register of tobacco growers for 2021 of the Agriculture Ministry.

Support under the de minimis scheme is paid per area at a rate of 1,200 leva per hectare approved by the Agriculture Minister. PP
