site.btaBulgaria Filters and Discontinues Traffic from 45,000 Internet Addresses for Malicious Activity

To ensure Bulgaria’s cybersecurity as hybrid attacks escalate amid the Ukraine crisis, the Bulgarian e-Government Ministry and the cyber security unit of the Interior Ministry’s Directorate General for Combating Organized Crime have taken action to filter or discontinuing traffic from over 45,000 Internet addresses that have been a source of malicious behavior towards electronic systems or networks, the government press office said Sunday.

In keeping with the Cybersecurity Act, telecom operators and companies offering public communication networks and services in the territory of Bulgaria have been instructed to filter or discontinue, when that is technically possible, the malicious Internet traffic.

Comprehensive measures to protect critical and strategic systems are being taken by interagency groups which are working in accordance with the action plans of the government’s Sybersecurity Board, the Ministry said.
