The Total Producer Price Index in January 2022 rose by 32.6 per cent compared to the same month of 2021, the National Statistical Institute said on Monday. Prices went up in electricity, gas, steam and air conditioning supply by 85.7 per cent, in manufacturing by 17.1 per cent and in the mining and quarrying industry by 3.9 per cent.
In manufacturing, a more compelling increase in prices was reported in the manufacture of chemicals and chemical products by 34.9 per cent, in the manufacture of wood and of products of wood and cork, except furniture; manufacture of articles of straw and plaiting materials by 27.4 per cent and in the manufacture of basic metals by 27.3 per cent. Prices fell in the manufacture of leather and related products by 1.1 per cent.
The Total Producer Price Index in Industry in January 2022 increased by 3.2 per cent compared to the previous month. Higher prices were registered in the electricity, gas, steam and air conditioning supply by 5.0 per cent and in manufacturing by 2.6 per cent, while a decrease was seen in the mining and quarrying industry by 3.4 per cent.
A more compelling increase in prices was seen in the manufacture of paper and paper products by 5.9 per cent, in the manufacture of chemicals and chemical products by 5.1 per cent and in the manufacture of basic metals by 3.6 per cent. Lower prices were registered in the manufacture of tobacco products by 0.3 per cent.
