site.btaMarket Liberalization Keeps NEK from Announcing Electricity Prices after July 1

Due to market liberalization, public electricity supplier NEK is unable to announce the prices at which it plans to sell electricity to end-users after July 1, 2022, the company press office reported on Tuesday.

The law requires NEK to make public the price changes which it intends to introduce for the services it is licensed to provide in the next regulatory period (in this case, from July 1, 2022 on). However, the liberalization of the electricity market has left some uncertainties about the functions which the public supplier will perform after July 1, the company noted.

NEK does not have complete information about the price components to be used in the next regulatory period. Therefore, it cannot forecast the electricity prices for the next period.
