site.btaBulgaria's Social Protection Expenditure Considerably Lower As GDP Share Compared to EU Average

Bulgaria's social protection expenditure in 2020 was 13.1 per cent of the country's GDP, which is considerably lower than the EU average of 22 per cent, Eurostat data published on its website show. 

Healthcare expenditure in Bulgaria in 2020 was 5.9 per cent of the GDP, against 8 per cent on average in the EU.
