There has been a three-fold increase in permits for foreign trade in defence-related items over a period of 13 years: from 202 in late 2007 to 653 in 2020. This transpired during a sitting of the parliamentary economic committee which heard a report by Dimiter Bouchkov, secretary of the interagency council for the defence industry under the government, on the control over trade in defence-related items and dual-use products and technologies in 2020.
The committee approved the report.
It also shows that the number of licensed and registered companies trading in defence-related and dual-use items and technologies increased from 191 in 2014 to 282 in 2020.
