Nationally representative employer organizations urge for scrapping of the cap on energy compensation for non-household consumers due to the high electricity prices in a letter to the Prime Minister and the respective ministers on Tuesday.

According to the employer organizations, measures should be implemented urgently under the current critical situation, which will ensure predictability and calm for non-household consumers about the price of electricity, to prevent restriction of operations, loss of jobs and decrease of incomes for workers.

“We believe that such measures could only be the removal of the current cap on energy compensation and the clear and categorically stated position of the government that compensation will be paid until electricity prices normalize,” employers said.

The employers says that these two measures will drive down inflation and will support incomes’ purchasing power.

The employer organizations call for an urgent meeting with the Prime Minister which will map out measures for tackling the situation, After the invasion of Ukraine the crisis with electricity for non-household consumers has aggravated and over the past days it has become more dramatic, threatening Bulgarian companies with suspension of operations, loss of jobs, a considerable increase of prices, and mass impoverishment.

The employers also urge the government to implement immediately a commitment to ease administrative procedure in connection with building RES generating facilities by employers for their own needs. PP
