site.btaAgriculture, Wine, Food Exhibition Opens at International Fair Plovdiv

A large exhibition dedicated to agribusiness, wine, food, and equipment opened here on Wednesday at International Fair Plovdiv (IFP). The event features close to 560 companies from 25 countries, makers and distributors representing over 170 sectors. Its programme contains 25 different events.

The exhibition will showcase the developments in several key branches of the economy related to both manufacturing and marketing, said IFP CEO Ivan Sokolov in his welcoming speech. “Companies from around the world are presenting the latest innovations, which satisfy the modern man’s will to return to authentic and healthy products,” he added.

The forum includes the international specialized exhibitions Agra (dedicated to agriculture), Vinaria (dedicated to vine-growing and wine-making), Foodtech (dedicated to food and drinks, packaging, machinery and technology), Tastes of Italy (dedicated to Italian cuisine).

Large agricultural machinery will be exhibited by IFP for the first time over an area spanning 35,000 square metres.

According to Sokolov, boutique wineries are updating this country's wine map, while “The City of Wine and Delicacies” has to offer a more varied and interesting assortment of products than ever: foods, wines, drinks, gourmet delicacies. Some 49 innovations in the fields of agriculture, food and wine industries will be presented as well. 

The opening ceremony was attended by Vice President Iliana Iotova, Deputy Agriculture Ministers Momchil Nekov and Stefan Burdzhev, Plovdiv Mayor Zdravko Dimitrov, the University of Food Technologies rector Prof. Plamen Mollov, business representatives, among others. The traditional ribbon-cutting was done by Vice President Iotova and Deputy Minister Burdzhev.
