site.btaBulgaria’s Exports Up by 31.2%, Imports by 51.2% in January, Y/Y

In January 2022, Bulgaria exported goods worth a total of 6,246.7 million leva, or by 31.2 per cent more than in January 2021, show preliminary data of the National Statistical Institute. 

In the first month of 2022, Bulgaria imported goods worth 7,636.5 million leva (at CIF prices), up by 51.2  per cent  year-on-year. The foreign trade balance (import FOB - export CIF) was negative at 1,389.8 million leva. 

In January 2022, Bulgaria's export to third countries grew by 38.1 per cent from the like month of 2021 to reach 2,002.8 million leva. Import from third countries increased by 81.8 per cent to 3,491.1 million leva (at CIF prices), with the biggest volume of goods imported from the Russian Federation, Turkey, China, and Ukraine. The foreign trade balance (export FOB - import CIF) with third countries was negative and stood at 1,488.3 million leva.
