site.btaElectricity Production Up 22.87% as at March 13, Y/Y
From January 1 to March 13, 2022, electricity production in Bulgaria amounted to 11,890,079 MWh, which is an increase by 22.87 per cent compared to the like period of 2021, show data of the Electricity System Operator (ESO) published Tuesday. Electricity consumption went up by 4.34 per cent to reach 9,208,847 MWh.
During the period under review, the export-import balance increased by 214.95 per cent year-on-year. According to ESO’s statistics, this indicator is beginning to decrease.
Compared to the January 1 – March 13, 2021 period, the participation of base plants in the transmission network grew by 32.99 per cent, with them producing 10,251,128 MWh of electricity.
The participation of renewable energy sources went up by 14.82 per cent in the transmission network and by 16.13 per cent in the distribution network.
The electricity produced by hydroelectric plants continues to decrease, down by 32.27 per cent in January 1 – March 13, 2022 year-on-year.
