site.btaBulgaria, Libya Prepare Agreement on Development of Health Tourism 

At the invitation of the Libyan mission in Sofia, Tourism Minister Hristo Prodanov discussed the possibilities for the development of health tourism between Bulgaria and Libya, the Ministry said on Tuesday. Prodanov pointed out that one of the priorities is to facilitate the process of issuing visas to third-country nationals and that his Ministry is actively working on this. Deputy Minister Mariela Modeva added that working meetings are already underway and an interdepartmental working group has been set up on the issue, as it is an important prerequisite for increasing the tourist flow to Bulgaria.

Discussions centred around specific steps and actions for the preparation of an agreement on the development of health tourism between Bulgaria and Libya. Foreign diplomats shared the impression that Bulgaria has a well-developed practice in health tourism and its traditions in the field are well known.

The meeting was also attended by Ambassador of Qatar Fahad Ibrahim Ali Al-Mushiri, the Ambassador of Iraq Lina Omar, Ambassador of Saudi Arabia Khalid bin Kamal Fakih, and the Ambassador of Palestine Ahmed Madbuh. The diplomats expressed support and readiness for cooperation in the field of tourism and its development between Bulgaria and the countries of the Arab world.

Zhivko Ivanov from the Bulgarian Union of Balneology and Spa Tourism shared organization's experience and expressed its readiness for assistance and cooperation with tourism organizations from Arab countries.
