site.btaJanuary 2022 Trade Balance Shows Deficit of EUR 581.1 Million

Bulgaria's trade balance showed a deficit of 581.1 million euro in January 2022 (0.8 per cent of GDP), against a deficit of 82.4 million euro in January 2020, the central bank said Friday.  

The export of goods in January was worth 3.2 billion euro, increasing by 817.3 million euro (34.3 per cent) from January 2021. 
   
The import of goods totalled nearly 3.8 billion euro (5 per cent of the GDP), increasing by 1.3 billion euro (53.5 per cent) from January 2021. 

The services balance showed a surplus of 208 million euro in January 2022, down from 231.8 million euro in January 2021. 

Bulgaria's current and capital account showed a deficit of 357.5 million euro in January 2022, against a deficit of 20.5 million euro in the same month of 2021. 
    
The current account had a deficit of 433 million euro in January 2022 (0.5 per cent of the GDP), against a deficit of 39.2 million euro in January 2021. 
    
The capital account had a surplus of 75.5 million euro in January 2022 (0.1 per cent of the GDP), against a surplus of 18.7 million euro in the same month a year ago. 

The financial account had a surplus of 6.1 million euro in January 2022, down from a surplus of 754.5 million euro a year earlier.
