site.btaForestry Inspectors Impound Timber, Hunting Weapons

Inspectors from state-owned forestry companies drew up 77 written statements of violation of administrative regulations and penalties under the Forests Act and the Hunting and Protection of Game Act in just three days between March 15 and 17, the Agriculture Ministry reported. They impounded 43 cubic metres of timber, vehicles, logging tools, illegal hunting weapons and ammunition.

Meanwhile, regional forestry directorates drew up 84 statements of findings and 102 statements of violations under the Forestry Act. They impounded 32 cu m of timber and 20 cu m of firewood. Over 120 inspection teams were working across Bulgaria.

These were the results of an aggregate of 4,900 checks conducted by the forestry companies and the forestry directorates. VE
