The Agriculture, Food and Forestry Ministry and the vine and wine sector are looking together for ways to support the branch in short order, it transpired during a meeting between Deputy Agriculture Minister Stefan Bourdzhev and representatives of the vine and wine sector. The head of the Executive Agency on Vine and Wine, Engineer Krassimir Koev, and experts of the Agriculture Ministry took part in Thursday’s discussion, the Ministry said.
The participants discussed the sector’s demands for emergency support to partially cover the working capital for activities done, as well as the compensation options available to vine growers in light of the growing difference between incomes and costs in the sector. Also raised was the question of the relations with commercial chains.
The sides agreed to review the options for making more precise the state support under the COVID-19 measure aiding winegrape growers. Discussed were the options for support under the 2023-2027 Strategic Plan.
Presented at the meeting was Delegated Regulation (EU) 2022/467 of March 23, 2022 Providing for Exceptional Adjustment Aid to Producers in the Agricultural Sectors. The document envisages the allocation of financial aid to the amount of 500 million euro to be distributed among Member States for overcoming the consequences of the situation in Ukraine. The Member States have to list by June 30 the support measures and the criteria for distributing the resources by sectors; the aid will be paid by September 30, 2022.
