site.btaRenewables with Bigger Share in Bulgaria’s Energy Balance in January-March 2022, Y/Y
The share of renewable energy sources (RES) in Bulgaria’s energy balance increased this year compared to the period from January 1 to March 27, 2021, show data published by the Energy System Operator. The participation of RES in the transmission network went up by 21.57 per cent and in the distribution network, by 20.17 per cent.
In the transmission network, the biggest increase was observed in photovoltaics, by 39.99 per cent, followed by wind power stations with 19.53 per cent. In the distribution network, the biggest share belonged to wind stations with 26.55 per cent and photovoltaics with 22.10 per cent.
In January 1-March 27, 2022, Bulgaria’s electricity production grew by 21.62 per cent year-on-year to reach 14,174,156 MWh. Electricity consumption increased by 3.64 per cent.
The export-import balance went up by 192.79 per cent. This indicator has been gradually decreasing since late January, the data show.
A decrease in electricity produced by hydroelectric power plants continues to be observed. In January 1-March 27, 2022, the drop amounted to 33.50 per cent year-on-year.
