site.btaWholesale Food Prices Up by over 17% Since Beginning of 2022
The market price index (MPI), which reflects wholesale food prices, jumped 3.23 per cent this week to 2.139 points, according to data from the Commodity Exchanges and Wholesale Markets State Commission.
Since the beginning of 2022, MPI has increased by more than 17 per cent. A year ago, the MPI was around 1,610 points or 33 per cent lower. The base level of the index of 1,000 points is from 2005.
At the Sofia Commodity Exchange (SCE), the quotations for grain during the week are only from the buyers - bread wheat is sought at 635.00 leva per tonne, fodder - at a price of 615.00 lv/t, and for corn there is a buying offer at a starting price of 450.00 lv/t. All prices are without VAT.
The SCE traditionally has deals for energy carriers: A95H motor gasoline was sold in the range of 2,120.00 - 2,358.33 leva per 1,000 litres; motor gasoline A100H for 2,566.67 leva per 1,000 litres; diesel fuel for 2,450.00 – 2,780.00 leva per 1,000 litres; gas oil at prices between 2,613.60 – 2,743.60 leva per 1,000 litres and Adblu supplement at 3,000.00 leva per 1,000 litres.
After the widespread decline in prices last week, now quotations of many commodities on world stock markets have gone up again, according to SCE experts.
