site.btaEP Budgetary Control Committee Members Visit Sofia
Members of the European Parliament’s Committee on Budgetary Control are paying a working visit to Sofia on April 11 through 13 to look into facts related to charges of corruption and malpractice with public funds in Bulgaria. Both could have a potential impact on EU financial interests.
The delegation’s schedule includes meetings with Prime Minister Kiril Petkov, the Deputy Prime Minister in charge of European funds and Finance Minister, Assen Vassilev, Deputy Agriculture Minister Momchil Nekov, Prosecutor General Ivan Geshev, as well as top state and government officials directly or indirectly involved in the management of European funds in Bulgaria.
On the delegation are Tomas Zdechovsky (Group of the European People's Party, Czechia), Tsvetelina Penkova (Group of the Progressive Alliance of Socialists and Democrats, Bulgaria), Sophia in ‘t Veld (Renew Europe Group, the Netherlands), Viola von Cramon-Taubadel (Group of the Greens/European Free Alliance,Germany), Joachim Kuhs (Identity and Democracy Group, Germany), Ryszard Czarnecki (European Conservatives and Reformists Group, Poland) and Andrey Novakov (Group of the European People's Party (Christian Democrats), Bulgaria) as accompanying member.
The MEPs will give a news conference on Wednesday, April 13, at the House of Europe in Sofia.
