The share of renewable energy sources (RES) in Bulgaria's transmission network increased by 23.7% in the year to April 10, 2022, compared to a year earlier, show data published by the Energy System Operator. The RES share in the distribution network also grew by 21.1%.
In the year to April 10, Bulgaria's electricity production grew by 20.2% year-on-year to 16,224,189 MWh. Electricity consumption increased by 2.35% to 12,356,734 MWh.
The export-import balance went up by 171.55%. Still, it has been decreasing gradually since late January, the data show.
The baseload power plants increased their participation in the electricity output by 29.3% year-on-year. Between January 1 and April 10, 2022, they produced 13,906,215 MWh of electricity, up from 10,777,272 MWh a year earlier.
The downward trend in electricity production by hydroelectric power plants continued, this time by 33.34% from a year earlier.
