site.btaBulgaria's Total Exports Up 31%, Imports 46.2% in January-February, Y/Y

In January-February 2022, Bulgaria exported goods worth 12,867.1 million leva, which is by 31% more than in the like period of 2021, show preliminary data released by the National Statistical Institute on Wednesday. In February alone, exports amounted to 6,647.4 million leva, up by 31.3% year-on-year.

In January-February 2022, Bulgaria imported goods worth 15,331.2 million leva (at CIF prices), or by 46.2% more than in the like period of 2021. In February alone, the imported goods amounted to 7,691.0 million leva, up by 41.5% year-on-year.

The foreign trade balance (export FOB - import CIF) was negative and stood at 2,464.1 million leva in January-February 2022 and at 1,043.6 million leva in February 2022.

In the first two months of 2022, Bulgaria's exports to third countries grew by 33.9% year-on-year to reach 4,277.2 million leva. In February alone, exports went up by 30.4% to 2,274.5 million leva. 

In January-February 2022, Bulgaria imported from third countries goods worth 6,792.7 million leva (at CIF prices), or by 73.3% more than in the like period of 2021. The biggest amounts of goods were imported from the Russian Federation, Turkey, China, and Ukraine. In February alone, imports increased by 65.2% year-on-year to 3,301.6 million leva.

The foreign trade balance (export FOB - import CIF) with third countries was negative and stood at 2,515.5  million leva in January-February 2022 and at 1,027.1 million leva in February 2022.

In January 2022, Bulgaria exported to the EU goods worth 4,217.0 million leva, or by 27.4% more compared to the same month last year. Imports from the Union went up by 32.6% year-on-year to reach 4,149.1 million leva (at CIF prices). The biggest amounts of goods came from Germany, Romania, Greece, the Netherlands, and Italy.

The foreign trade balance (export FOB - import CIF) with the EU was positive at 67.9 million leva in January .
