site.btaPrices of Wholesale Food Up by Nearly 21% Since Beginning of 2022
The market price index which reflects wholesale food prices, increased by 3.27 per cent this week to 2,209 points, according to data from the Commodity Exchange and Wholesale Markets State Commission.
Since the beginning of 2022, the market price index has gone up by nearly 21 per cent. A year ago, the it was around 1,610 - 1,615 points or 37 per cent lower. The base level of the index of 1,000 points is from 2005.
The price of greenhouse tomatoes this week went up by 7.7 per cent to 4.48 leva per kilogram, and greenhouse cucumbers went up by 5.4 per cent to 3.70 leva per kilogram. Potatoes went up by 3.3 per cent and sold at 0.95 leva per kilogram. Carrots went up by 11.1 per cent to 1.10 leva per kilogram wholesale. The price of cabbage went down by 8.8 per cent to 1.25 per kilogram leva. The price of imported red peppers increased by 4.5 per cent to 4.15 leva per kilogram.
The price of apples decreased by 3.1 per cent this week to 1.26 leva per kilogram. The price of lemons went down by 0.5 per cent to 1.89 leva per kilogram. Bananas were sold at 2.56 leva per kilogram wholesale. Oranges went up by 1.9 per cent - 1.62 leva per kilogram.
Cow cheese went up by 1.2 per cent to 8.92 leva per kilogram, and Vitosha yellow cheese sold at 14.20 leva per kilogram. The price of oil increased by 4.9 per cent to 4.90 leva per liter. A packet of 125 grammes of butter went up by 0.8 per cent and sold at 2.48 leva at the end of the week. Chicken meat went up by 2.9 per cent and was sold at an average of 5.34 leva per kilogram. Sugar went up by 3.3 percent and is sold at 1.90 leva per kilogram. Regular white flour went up by 5.2 per cent 1.41 to per kilogram. The price of rice increased by 3.7 per cent to 2.55 leva per kilogram. Eggs went up by 1 stotinka and are sold at 0.28 leva per piece one week before Easter.
