The winners of the international wine competition Mundus Vini were announced just days ago, and Bulgarian wineries received a number of awards again, the National Vine and Wine Chamber told BTA on Wednesday. The Domaine Boyar winery in particular stands out with its award for best Bulgarian winemaker.
Mundus Vini is one of the largest and most prestigious international competitions. Every year its jury rates different varieties of wines in Neustadt, Germany.
All award-winning wineries get five of their wines awarded gold medals and five others awarded silver.
Two Bulgarian wines won Grand Gold: Katarzyna Estate's 2016 Katarzyna Reserve and Edoardo Miroglio's 2018 Reserve Elenovo Mavrud.
Twenty-five others won Gold and Silver, as published on the organizer's website.
Domaine Boyar’s gold medallists are 2019 Platinum Cabernet Sauvignon; 2021 Skywalker Sauvignon Blanc; 2020 Korten Natura Mavrud & Rubin; 2021 Paradiso Mediterraneo Rose; 2020 Domaine Boyar Mavrud & Cabernet Franc.
Their wines that won silver are: 2021 Nelson Cliffs Sauvignon Blanc; 2020 Korten Wines Cabernet Sauvignon; 2020 Quantum Pinot Noir & Merlot; 2020 Korten Wines Syrah; 2021 Korten Natura Rose.
Domaine Boyar Traminer and Domaine Boyar Merlot, both from 2021, were awarded at the Sakura Awards in Japan, while Boutique Rose 2021 won gold at Concours Mondial de Bruxelles Rose Selection 2022.
