site.btaBulgaria's Balance on Goods Records EUR 401.2 Mln Deficit in February 2022

Bulgaria's balance on goods recorded a deficit of 401.2 million euro in February 2022, compared with a deficit of 118.5 million euro in February 2021, the Bulgarian National Bank reported on Wednesday. In January-February 2022 the balance on goods was negative amounting to 993.3 million euro (1.3% of GDP), compared with a deficit of 200.8 million euro (0.3% of GDP) in January-February 2021.

Exports of goods amounted to 3,401.6 million euro in February 2022, increasing by 876.3 million euro (34.7%) from February 2021. In January-February 2022 exports of goods totalled 6,438.9 million euro (8.6% of GDP), increasing by 1,533.7 million euro (31.3%) year-on-year.

Imports of goods amounted to 3,802.8 million euro in February 2022, increasing by 1,159 million euro (43.8%) from February 2021. In January-February 2022 imports of goods totalled 7,432.1 million euro (9.9% of GDP), up by 2,326.2 million euro (45.6%) from January-February 2021.

Services recorded a positive balance of 239.8 million euro in February 2022, compared with a surplus of 260.1 million euro in February 2021. In January-February 2022 services recorded a surplus of 488.8 million euro (0.7% of GDP) compared with a positive balance of 491.9 million euro (0.7% of GDP) in the same period of 2021.

Bulgaria's current and capital account recorded a surplus of 347.5 million euro in February 2022, compared with a surplus of 442.6 million euro in February 2021. In January-February 2022 the current and capital account was positive amounting to 11.1 million euro (0.01% of GDP), compared with a surplus of 422.1 million euro (0.6% of GDP) in January-February 2021.

The current account was positive amounting to 212.3 million euro in February 2022, compared with a positive balance amounting to 308.7 million euro in February 2021. In January-February 2022 the current account was negative and amounted to 199.6 million euro (0.3% of GDP), compared with a surplus of 269.5 million euro (0.4% of GDP) in January-February 2021.

The capital account recorded a surplus of 135.2 million euro in February 2022, compared with a positive balance of 133.8 million euro in February 2021. In January-February 2022 the capital account recorded a surplus of 210.7 million euro (0.3% of GDP), compared with a positive balance of 152.6 million euro (0.2% of GDP) in January-February 2021.

The financial account recorded a negative balance of 177.3 million euro in February 2022, compared with a positive balance of 523.3 million euro in February 2021. In January-February 2022 the financial account recorded a net outflow of 197.1 million euro (0.3% of GDP) compared with an inflow of 1,277.8 million euro (1.9% of GDP) in January-February 2021.
