The 60/40 job retention measure has supported 13,646 employers and helped 331,518 people keep their jobs between March 2020 when it was launched and April 14, 2022, the National Social Security Institute (NSSI) said in its first bulletin of the year.
Nearly 1,845.2 million leva have been paid out.
The measure was redesigned several times during that period to reflect changes in the epidemic situation, the pace of economic recovery and the available financial resources, the NSSI said. Nearly two thirds of both employers and employees were involved in the 60/40 measure for up to 10 months.
Manufacturing accounts for the largest share, nearly 42 per cent, of retained jobs and roughly the same proportion of the amount paid. The hotel and restaurant industry accounts for about 20 per cent of retained jobs and 15.5 per cent of the payments. Two sectors - transport, storage and posts; and wholesale and retail trade, repair of motor vehicles and motorcycles - each account for about 10 per cent of the retained jobs and the financing.
The above four sectors account for nearly 82 per cent of the retained jobs and about 77 per cent of the payments.
The 2022 Public Social Insurance Budget has allocated 300 million leva for the 60/40 measure.
