The 1,000-megawatt Unit Five of the Kozloduy Nuclear Power Plant will be switched off for scheduled annual maintenance on April 24, the NPP said on Thursday. The maintenance works are expected to be completed by the end of May.
This was coordinated with the Electricity System Operator. The NPP has secured crews, spare parts and all other resources needed for the maintenance works. They will include preventive technical maintenance and repairs of the equipment and systems, trials, specialized inspections and checks to secure the unit's safe and reliable long-term operation.
The reactor will be refuelled for the 29th fuel cycle.
