The consumption of natural gas in Bulgaria is guaranteed for at least a month and restricting it is currently unnecessary, Deputy Energy Minister Iva Petrova told a conference on climate, energy and environment on Thursday. In her words, Bulgaria is in constant contact with the European Commission where options are being discussed for EU-level deliveries.

The Bulgarian Energy Holding, Bulgargaz and Bulgartransgaz have ensured uninterrupted alternative supplies, Petrova also said.

The National Recovery and Resilience Plan outlines the vision and specific measures until 2026, she went on to say. In this document Bulgaria has managed to defend the use of coal-fired plants; the country is not obliged to close down these plants but instead has to limit their carbon emissions, she specified.
