site.btaPrime Minister Petkov to Attend Ground Breaking Ceremony for Alexandroupolis LNG Terminal

Prime Minister Kiril Petkov will attend a groundbreaking ceremony for an LNG terminal in the Alexandroupolis on May 3. Bulgartransgaz has a 20 per cent stake in the terminal which is expected to be completed by 2023, said the government information service.

The terminal will comprise a floating storage and regasification unit and 28km of subsea and onshore pipelines to connect with Greece’s gas system. Through existing routes gas will be supplied to Bulgaria, Serbia, and North Macedonia.

Within the framework of his visit to Greece, Petkov will inspect the construction of a gas interconnector between Bulgaria and Greece near Komotini.
