site.btaEurostat: Unemployment in Bulgaria Down to 4.3% in March

Unemployment in Bulgaria was down to 4.3% in March, from 4.4% in February and 5.8% last March, according to Eurostat figures. Unemployed Bulgarians totaled 138,000 in March, down from 143.000 in February and 190,000 during March of 2021.

On April 14, the Employment Agency said that the level of registered unemployment in the country had reached a record low of 4.8 per cent in March, making a decrease of 0.1 percentage points from a month earlier and 1.7 percentage points from this time last year.   

Eurostat also said that unemployment across the EU came down to 6.2% in March (seasonally adjusted) from 6.3% in February and 7.5% in March last year. During the same period, euro zone unemployment was 6.8% against 6.9% in February and 8.2% in March 2021.

The Eurostat figures show that 2.595 million youths below the age of 25 were unemployed EU-wide, including 2.098 million in the euro zone. That makes a youth unemployment rate of 13.9% in the EU and the euro zone. In Bulgaria, unemployed youths totaled 17,000 in March, down from 18,000 in February and 21,000 in March 2021.
