site.btaCustoms Agency's Monthly Revenues Exceed BGN 1 Bln in March
The Customs Agency's revenues in March 2022 amounted to 1.027 billion leva, going up by 31.1% compared with March 2021, the Agency said in a press release on Tuesday.
March 2022 revenues from value added tax (VAT) at import were 596.3 million leva, increasing by 64.9% compared with March 2021. VAT revenues hit a monthly high for the second month in a row.
Monthly customs duty revenues stood at 34 million leva, growing by 59.6%, year on year.
Cash revenues from excise duties amounted to 396.2 million leva, falling by 0.9%. Revenues from excise duties on tobacco and tobacco products were still influenced by a January 2022 overstock which came with the introduction of a new type of excise revenue stamps (effective at the beginning of 2022).
Between January and March 2022, the Customs Agency's revenues from excise duties, VAT at import, customs duties and fines totalled 2.836 billion leva. This implies an increase by 27.8% from the first quarter of 2021. Quarterly revenues from excise duties rose by 57.9 million leva to 1.264 billion leva. Among all excisable goods, the highest growth of excise duty revenues was observed with fuels.
The Customs Agency's total revenues in April 2022 are expected to exceed 1 billion leva again.
