site.btaPM: Energy Subsidies for Businesses to Continue in May

Energy subsidies for businesses will continue in May, said Prime Minister Kiril Petkov during a briefing at the Council of Ministers Thursday. Petkov, together with other members of his Cabinet, met with representatives of employers' organizations to discuss the topic of natural gas and electricity prices, as well as the measures required in response.

"The Bulgarian government is working very hard so that we can have clear gas supplies at prices that are not different from those that would come through the alternative Gazprom. We assess the risks that the war can bring to Bulgaria, Europe and even the world. We discussed various options so that we are ready and have predictability for Bulgarian business and its workers," said the Prime Minister.

Petkov expressed hope that Bulgaria would not be badly surprised by the upcoming gas price levels. ''Only a few days have passed since the new situation occurred,'' he said, referring to the suspended deliveries by the Russian Gazprom.

The Prime Minister once again assured that the gas supply to consumers has not stopped or decreased.
