Everyone approves the date of January 1, 2024 for the adoption of the euro, and steps are being taken to meet the deadline, Minister of Innovation and Growth Daniel Lorer told reporters.

He called on the members of Parliament to show great responsibility in view of the workload ahead of them.

Minister Lorer went on to say that there will likely be changes at the level of the European Union in the criterion for inflation, which is very high throughout the EU, and then Bulgaria will be able to meet it easily.

He added that the anti-inflation package of over BGN 1.5 billion is not ready yet, but it is starting to take shape. Some of the measures are related to the amount of VAT and excise duties.

Earlier in the Ministry of Innovation and Growth, Minister Daniel Lorer held a meeting with representatives of the Association of Banks in Bulgaria and the Fund of Funds, where a loan product of BGN 96 million was announced to guarantee loans to small and medium-sized companies.

With the help of the Fund of Funds, seven banks will provide loans to businesses, and the new product is expected to support a portfolio of BGN 240 million, the Minister said.
