Sofia Thursday hosted a conference on "The Future of Public Services Powered by Blockchain", organized by the French Institute in Bulgaria and the Startup Factory NGO with support from the French Embassy.

Addressing the forum, e-Government Minister Bozhidar Bozhanov said blockchain in the public sector can be used not just as a technological solution but as a means of regaining trust in the institutions. The success of blockchain projects requires cross-border cooperation, he said. While an individual country can benefit from blockchain, much more can be achieved at EU level.

French Ambassador Florence Robine said digital technology is everywhere - in people's offices, pockets, cars and homes, and the pandemic forced people to go online much more than before and to communicate on screen with others.

Bulgarian MEP Eva Maydell (EPP/GERB) said in a video address that digital education is very important, or even vitally important.
