Coming out of this crisis, Bulgaria will be stronger, more diversified, and more developed, Prime Minister Kiril Petkov said Friday at the opening of “The Day after Tomorrow: Policies for Growth” conference in Sofia.
The conference is part of a series of discussions in the framework of the Investments and Regions initiative, organized by Brand Media Bulgaria which runs the websites Economic.bg and Kmeta.bg. The European Investment Bank is a strategic partner in the initiative. The purpose of the event is to acquaint the representatives of local government, businesses, and banks with the opportunities for project financing for regional development, innovation, and transition to a carbon-neutral economy.
In Petkov’s words, every crisis is an opportunity. Bulgaria also has such opportunities and should use them in the smartest way possible. Europe’s map is being redrawn, he said.
“We are 65 million people in the Balkans and if we manage to bring together our energy and infrastructure projects, we should become the fastest growing region in Europe,” Petkov said.
