Experts from the National Revenue Agency (NRA), the HM Revenue & Customs and the UK's Gambling Commission exchanged expertise and good practices in the area of gambling licensing and oversight during an online meeting, NRA said in a press release on Sunday.

The meeting was opened by NRA Executive Director Rumen Spetsov.

Experts from the UK's Gambling Commission spoke about the regulatory measures concerning the various types of online gambling in Britain. The experts from the HM Revenue and Customs dwelled on the specific taxation of gambling and on legal amendments thanks to which online gambling operators can be taxed anywhere in the world.

The participants in the meeting said that the two countries' revenue authorities have productive cooperation not only in the area of gambling but in risk managing and monitoring and control of online commerce.

Spetsov said that thanks to the exchange of expertise with the HM Revenue and Customs, which has been going on for two years now, NRA has introduced new approaches and means to monitor e-trade and limit loopholes for tax evasion. He said that the meeting marked the start of cooperation in the area of gambling, adding that Britain has traditions and very good practices in licensing, oversight and taxation of gambling which the NRA could also use.
