Monthly inflation in April was 2.1% in Bulgaria, 0.8% in the EU and 0.6% in the eurozone, according to new Eurostat data. Annual inflation rose to 12.1% in Bulgaria, up from from 10.5% in March and 2% in April last year.

Annual inflation in the EU increased to 8.1% in April from 7.8% in March and 2% in April last year, and in the inflation in the eurozone stabilized at 7.4% last month from 1.6% a year ago.

Annual inflation was lowest in France and Malta (5.4% in each) and in Finland (5.8%), and highest in Estonia (19.1 per cent), Lithuania (16.6 per cent) and the Czech Republic (13.2 per cent).

Compared to March, annual inflation decreased in three member states, remained stable in two and increased in twenty-two.

In April, the largest contribution to annual inflation in the Eurozone was made by energy (+3.70 percentage points), followed by services (+1.38 percentage points), food, alcohol and tobacco (+1.35 percentage points) and industrial goods without accounting for energy (+1.02 percentage points).
