site.btaQ1 2022 Unemployment Rate in Bulgaria Down to 4.9% Y/Y - Statistics

The unemployment rate in the first quarter of 2022 was 4.9%, by 1.4 percentage points year-on-year, the National Statistical Institute said on Thursday.

In the first quarter of 2022 the number of unemployed stood at 158,700, of whom 84,300 (53.1%) men and 74,400 (46.9%) women. Compared to the first quarter of 2021, the number of unemployed dropped by 45,300 (22.2%). 

The activity rate for the population aged 15 - 64 stood at 72.0%, by 0.6 percentage points higher compared to the the first quarter of 2021.

The employment rate for people aged 15 - 64 rose by 1.5 percentage points from the same quarter of 2021 and stood at 68.4%.
