Train fares in Bulgaria will remain unchanged, Transport and Communications Minister Nikolay Sabev said on bTV Sunday. He said figures show that there is no reason to make tickets more expensive.

“We promised Bulgarian people that train fares will be raised only when it is worth paying more for a better quality,” he said.

He added that the government is determined to make train services the backbone of public transport and help people and businesses reduce their costs.

Sabev believes that the target date in the summer of 2026 for delivery and putting in operation of new double-decker trains, for which funding is expected from the National Recovery and Resilience Plan, is absolutely realistic
