Bulgaria’s National Euro Changeover Plan must enter into force only after the National Assembly votes on an analysis of the effects of introducing the single European currency to this country, according to a draft resolution submitted by the There Is Such a People (TISP) party. The draft resolution was signed by the chair of the parliamentary Committee on Budget and Finance Lyubomir Karimansky, Deputy Parliament Chair Iva Miteva, and TISP floor leader Toshko Yordanov.

The document states that the analysis must be conducted by the Ministry of Finance and the Bulgarian National Bank. Its agenda must include: the main Eurozone policies; the economic and financial policies of this country; the condition of the Bulgarian economy; the forecast changes, benefits, costs, risks, and challenges that come from joining the Eurozone; as well as the effects on other countries once they joined the Eurozone.

According to the sponsors, their draft resolution was created after the 47th National Assembly decided to vote on important government decisions after in-depth discussions. The TISP MPs also argue that a preliminary strategic analysis of the euro changeover is crucial and point out that one is yet to be presented in parliament.
