More than 45 exhibiting companies will take part in the 25th edition of the Sofia International Motor Show, which will take place in the capital from June 3rd to 12th. The forum is hosted by Inter Expo Center and will be attended by 17 companies, members of the the Association of Car Manufacturers (ACM) and their authorized representatives for Bulgaria, the association said at a press conference in BTA.

A total of 189 exhibits will be displayed in the halls, and this year there will be an electrical model at every stand. There will be some 33 fully electric cars and 70 hybrid models, which together is more than the 86 conventional models powered by an internal combustion engine.

Only 2-3 years ago, electric cars were a rarity and even exotic. They are already entering the market much more, said Hrabrin Ivanchev, chairman of the ACM Board. He supported his statement with data from the electrified cars registered in this country, which in 2016 were only about 2%, but up until March this year this percentage has increased significantly. This is the European and global trend, Ivanchev explained.

The 2022 Sofia International Motor Show will include a total of 15 premieres. One of them is that for the first time in the capital, brand new models will be exhibited to the general public, which have so far been shown to a limited number of people or at online events. In addition, there will be a significant number of new modifications and technological innovations, organizers said.

ACM highlighted some issues including the outdated fleet in Bulgaria, which is among the causes of road accidents and air pollution. They also said that they are participating in a number of initiatives to stimulate the purchase of new cars.
