Germany is a priority tourist market for Bulgaria. Before the COVID crisis, German tourists reached 1 million a year and were third in number after Romanians and Greeks in Bulgaria, said Minister of Tourism Hristo Prodanov during a meeting with Claudia Muller, Federal Government Coordinator for the Maritime Industry and for Tourism, and a member of the Bundestag, the Tourism Ministry said on Wednesday.
Minister Prodanov paid a working visit to Germany with the Bulgarian MPs Ilin Dimitrov, Chair of the parliamentary Tourism Committee, and Snezhana Apostolova, Deputy Chair of the Committee.
According to Commissioner Muller, the capacity of German resorts is insufficient, and they cannot meet all the domestic demand. The possibilities for development of cruise tourism between the two countries on the Danube River were also discussed.
A meeting with German Travel Agencies Union (DRV) President Norbert Fiebig was held in Berlin. According to the Union, the desire of German tourists to travel to safe and friendly countries such as Bulgaria has increased. The meeting was followed by a round table with representatives of the tourism industry in Germany.
