Bulgarian Energy Minister Alexander Nikolov represented his country at the 27th Baku Energy Forum in Azeerbaijan's capital on June 2 and 3.

Addressing the event, Nikolov said, quoted by his Ministry in a press release on Friday, that in the conditions of a war in Ukraine and halted natural gas supplies, Europe more than ever before needs to deepen cooperation with the Caspian basin countries.

In the Energy Minister's words, Azerbaijan has proved itself as one of Bulgaria's most reliable energy partners in the course of many years. "Our cooperation is particularly valuable at a time when natural gas supply sources diversification in Europe is a matter of paramount importance," Nikolov emphasized.

Other speakers at the Forum included Energy Ministers Parviz Shahbazov of Azerbaijan, Zorana Mihajlovic of Serbia and Virgil Daniel Popescu of Romania, Hungary's Foreign and Trade Minister Peter Szijjarto, Moldova's Deputy Prime Minister and Infrastructure and Regional Development Minister Andrei Spinu, Turkey's Deputy Energy and Natural Resources Minister Alparslan Bayraktar, and officials of the European Commission and the US Department of State.
