The end of the Red and White Session of the prestigious Concours Mondial de Bruxelles wine competition saw 43 Bulgarian wines awarded with medals. The 29th edition of the event between May 19 and 22 had 7,300 wines from close to 40 different countries compete against each other, the organizers reported on their website.
Two Bulgarian wines received the highest honour of grand gold medal: the Kabile Syrah 2018 from Villa Yambol and the Bulgarian Heritage Mavrud Reserve 2016 from Izba Karabunar. Another 16 Bulgarian wines won gold, and 25 more got silver medals.
Bulgaria was one of the twelve Eastern European countries to compete in 2022. Its total number of accolades put the country 3rd in that region behind the first Moldova and the second Czechia.
The winners of this year’s competition included traditional countries such as Italy and France, but also less popular ones, including China, Peru, and Kazakhstan.
