Mariana Petkova has been elected Chairperson of the Governing Board and Executive Director of the Bulgarian Development Bank (BDB), BDB said in a press release Thursday. 

Petkova has worked for more than 28 years in the banking sector, including abroad. 

From 2006 to 2021 she headed ProCredit Bank where she was executive director and member of the bank's governing board in Bulgaria, and deputy CEO and CEO of the bank in Romania. 

Petkova has extensive experience in streamlining banking costs and working with customers in the SME sector. 

The BDB executive director is picked by the Bank's Supervisory Board and is approved by the central bank.

Hitherto BDB executive directors Vladimir Georgiev and Zhivko Todorov have chosen to look for new careers outside the bank.
