According to the snap statistics for April 2022, the Industrial Production Index, seasonally adjusted, decreased by 0.4% from March 2022. In April 2022, the calendar adjusted Industrial Production Index rose by 16.9% from the same month of 2021, said the National Statistical Institute Friday.
Compared to the previous month, the seasonally adjusted Industrial Production Index in April 2022 decreased in the electricity, gas, steam and air conditioning supply (by 19.9%) and in the mining and quarrying industry (by 16.3%). It increased in manufacturing (by 3.3%), where a significant growth was seen in the manufacture of fabricated metal products, except machinery and equipment (45.4%), of computers, electronic and optical products (by 14%), of tobacco products (by 11%) and of basic pharmaceutical products and pharmaceutical preparations (by 10.4%). The most significant decrease is reported in the repair and installation of machinery and equipment (by 12.3%), in the manufacture of motor vehicles, trailers and semi-trailers (by 11.5%) and in the manufacture of chemicals and chemical products (by 10.5%).
Compared to this month last year, the April Industrial Production Index (based on calendar-adjusted data) rose in the electricity, gas, steam and air conditioning supply (by 19.8%), in manufacturing (by 17.8%) and in the mining and quarrying industry (by 7%). The most significant year-on-year increase in manufacturing is seen in "other manufacturing" (by 57.2%), in the manufacture of computers, electronic and optical products (by 43.1%), of beverages (by 42.3%) and of fabricated metal products, except machinery and equipment (by 41.9%). A decrease is seen in the manufacture of other transport equipment (by 3.5%), of basic metals (by 2.5%) and of rubber and plastic products (by 1.9%).
