Sofia Tech Park and the European Organization for Nuclear Research (CERN) on Friday launched the first season of their joint initiative, Bulgarian Business Incubation Centre (BIC), which will support innovative ideas for the translation into practice of high tech ideas.

The Bulgarian BIC is part of CERN's network of ten Business Incubation Centres.

Sofia Tech Park Management Board Chair Vassil Karaivanov told BTA that Bulgaria is the tenth country with which CERN is joining forces in setting up a business incubator intended to develop products and services based on more than 500 technologies of the organization in over 10 areas that can be commercialized and used by individuals and businesses. All teams or start-ups, small and medium-sized enterprises that have an interest and potential in implementing CERN's innovative technologies are welcome to apply and present their ideas. The programme is accessible at any time without a deadline. The registration rules and the application form are available at https://bic.fitt.bg.

Approved applicants will join the programme, get office space, and receive EUR 40,000 financing within two years, Karaivanov said.
