Speaking at the Sofia Economic Forum III here on Tuesday, Deputy Defence Minister Yordan Bozhilov said: "We must prepare to face the new, uncertain world." In his speech, Bozhilov outlined the security challenges.
"The risk of creating a new system, which allows for a stronger state to seek annexation of territory of a weaker state through military force, will create uncertainty and chaos in international relations," the Deputy Defence Minister said.
"We're witnessing the Black Sea region's reformatting," he said, adding that borders are being redrawn at the moment and not a single agreement in the area of security and trust-building, signed in the 1990s, is currently in effect.
Bozhilov further said that in addition to causing personal suffering and a refugee wave, war has a negative impact on other areas, such as trade, transport and tourism.
"All NATO countries have the ambition of adopting a new strategic concept, which can confirm the Alliance's main tasks with a focus on collective defence," the Deputy Defence Minister said.
