The Commission for Consumer Protection (CCP) receives more than 20,000 complaints annually related to violations of consumer rights, CCP's Ignat Arsenov said, speaking at a discussion on European consumer protection measures held in Sofia.
The forum, organized by the European Parliament Liaison Office in Sofia, was attended by Bulgarian MEP Andrey Kovachev, the head of the European Consumer Centre in Bulgaria, Sonya Spassova, and Antoan Atanassov, a legal adviser of the Active Consumers Association.
Arsenov said that the most common complaints from consumers concern public utilities, e-traders' refusals to accept returns of goods purchased online, misleading or missing information about goods, and holidays-related complaints, such as cancelled trips and quality of tourism services.
Kovachev spoke about online shopping on non-EU websites where consumer complaints are harder to make.
