site.btaInnovation, Interior Ministries, National Security Agency Join Force in Tackling EU Funds Misuse

The Ministry of Innovation and Growth, the Ministry of Interior and the State Agency for National Security signed a Cooperation and Collaboration Agreement for joint action to prevent and investigate irregularities and general crime regarding the spending of funds under the European Structural and Investment Funds (ESIF), the Innovation and Growth Ministry reported on Monday.

Innovation Minister Daniel Lorer commented that the goal of the agreement is to optimize the existing communication channels and establish new ones between the state institutions in order to facilitate their collaboration in overseeing the lawful spending of the ESIF funds and protecting the national security and the financial interests of the EU.

The agreement provides for the possibility of joint trainings to raise the administrators' qualifications in terms of counteracting irregularities and fraud, money-laundering and other unlawful activities.
