In May 2022, Bulgarians made 729,400 trips abroad, which is 119.7% more compared to may of last year. 

In May 2022, the number of arrivals of visitors from abroad to Bulgaria was 803,300 or by 119.7% more in comparison with May 2021, the National Statistical Institute said on Tuesday.

In May 2022 most trips of Bulgarian citizens were made to: Turkey - 181,500, Greece - 162,900, Romania - 87,400, Serbia - 64,700, Germany - 39,200, Republic of North Macedonia - 33,800, Italy - 29,200, Austria - 24,500, Spain - 20,300, France - 14,500.

The share of visits of EU citizens was 48.8% of the total number of foreigners’ visits to Bulgaria in May 2022, reaching 391,900. Compared to the same month of the previous year, the number of visits of foreign citizens from all countries increased. Visits by foreigners from other European countries were 335,900, or 41.8% of all visits to Bulgaria. The highest number of visitors came from Turkey - 136,400 or 40.6%.

In May 2022 the most visits to Bulgaria were from: Romania - 157,500, Turkey - 136,400, Greece - 84,800, Ukraine - 68,000, Serbia - 52,900, Germany - 48,900, Republic of North Macedonia - 37,200, the United Kingdom - 30,200, Poland - 24,300, Israel - 10,300.
