In May 2022, the Total Producer Price Index rose by 38.2% year-on-year. Prices in electricity, gas, steam and air conditioning supply went up by 83.8%, in manufacturing by 25.9% and in mining and quarrying industry by 11.3%, the National Statistical Institute said on Thursday.

In manufacturing, a steeper increase in prices was reported in the manufacture of chemicals and chemical products by 40.2%, in the manufacture of paper and paper products by 29.4%, in the manufacture of wood and of products of wood and cork, except furniture; manufacture of articles of straw and plaiting materials by 28.3% and in the manufacture of food products by 25.5%.

In May 2022 the Total Producer Price Index in Industry increased by 0.4% from April. Higher prices were registered in manufacturing by 2.6% and in mining and quarrying industry by 0.2%. Prices went down in electricity, gas, steam and air conditioning supply by 4.0%.

Prices went up in the manufacture of chemicals and chemical products by 4.9%, in the manufacture of food products by 3.2% and in the manufacture of paper and paper products by 2.8%. Prices decreased in the manufacture of basic metals by 2.1%.
